Newest first, dated to the day it went live
Every change to the journal that a visitor could see. Fixes nobody could notice, and changes made and then taken back, are left out. If something here does not match what you find, the contact page says how to tell us.
- The privacy and cookie pages say what happens while Google reviews our application to show adverts: every page loads Google's advertising script, no advert is shown, and the script is told not to use advertising cookies unless you agree.
- The About page now says how visits are counted: with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie.
- Five plant entries have a corrected pet safety line. The ASPCA lists elephant's ear, amaryllis and Greek oregano as toxic to cats and dogs, and it has no entry for the ZZ plant or croton, which the journal still marks toxic.
- The gift guide no longer calls the ZZ plant and pothos the safest gifts. It now says, as their entries do, that both are toxic to cats and dogs, and suggests a spider plant where there may be an animal.
- The finder's pet safety filter is labelled in English in every language, like the pet safety lines it filters on.
- The terms say where each plate's credit and licence appear.
- The plant directory lists only the entries that have been checked against their sources. The unfinished ones stay reachable by their own address and are marked as not yet checked.
- Each month of the house has a passage written for its own hemisphere: the day length, the frost months, the storm and fire seasons, the clock changes. Every job whose timing differs across the south has a note of its own for the southern pages, and a job that comes round again in a later month points back to the month that explains it. Each month also says how many groups its jobs fall into, where every month used to say five.
- Every guide says when it was published and who wrote it.
- The About page names the company that publishes the journal.
- The homepage presses a plate of Ficus elastica from Franz Eugen Kohler's Medizinal-Pflanzen, credited to its artist.
- An empty count no longer shows on the ailments index.
- This page is new.
- Plant entries and the shelves they sit on link to the guides they assume you have read.
- The homepage gained a section describing what the journal is and how to use it.
- The homepage, the finder and the tools are available in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Simplified Chinese and Japanese, from a language picker on every page. The pet safety lines stay in English in every language.
- The cookies link in the footer goes to the cookies page.
- The journal opened with 166 plant entries, 50 of them checked against their sources, and a botanical plate on 130 of them.
- Twenty-five guides, on watering, light, pots, pests, lawns, hedges, edibles and the house.
- Twenty-seven ailment pages and a diagnoser that ranks the causes by the plant's own entry.
- The finder, the almanac with a page for every month of each hemisphere, and the house through the year, a tickable list of seasonal jobs.
- Three calculators: mulch, lawn seed and paint.
- The about, contact, privacy, cookies and terms pages.
